The Red Devils were delighted with the way the team started. They got the early lead through Young in the 13th minute. After Rashford passed the ball, the veteran defender worked his way through the opponent defense, and then, his magnificent right-footed strike found solace inside the Fulham goal. It was 1-0 and the crowd were jubilant.
Fifteen minutes later, Mata doubled the lead for the hosts with an iconic goal. Once again, Rashford was the creator. The Englishman got the ball on the left hand side from Lukaku and sent it on the path of Mata. The Spaniard made no mistake to slot it home. This was his 50th goal for the Old Trafford side and it ensured a 2-0 lead for his team. United got another chance to score after a while, but this time, Rico was able to parry a stunning freekick of Rashford. The third goal was inevitable, though.
With a few minutes remaining on the clock, Lingard and Mata combined brilliantly inside the Fulham box and the latter set Lukaku up with a delicious ball. The big Belgian only had to tap the ball into the net and he executed that perfectly. The first half ended 3-0.
Beginning of the second half saw a more compact performance from the visitors, who brought in reinforcements to strengthen the attack. However, the welcome goal was still away. Meanwhile, Herrera got a golden opportunity to increase the lead from a Rico mistake but the midfielder squandered the chance away.
After the hour-mark, the away side got the chance they needed. A controversial decision from the official awarded a penalty from Fulham, and substitute Kamara made it 3-1 from the spot, sending De Gea wrong way. Right after the goal, however, the trailing side were reduced to 10-men as Anguissa saw the second yellow following a terrible foul on Rashford.
United got a couple of more chances after that, but Rico pulled off saves. However, he could not stop Rashford from scoring the fourth of United when he took a magnificent goal from yards out. With ten odd minutes to go, United were leading 4-1 and looked threatening to add more to their tally.
With this win, Manchester United climbed up the Premier League table and secured the sixth spot for the moment. They now have 26 points from 16 games, but they are still 8 points behind fourth-places Arsenal. Fulham, on the other hand, remain at the bottom.
