After a humiliating 3-1 defeat to Tottenham in the last week’s Premier League fixture, Maurizio Sarri’s men have come back on track following two victories in a row. The Blues have secured an easy 2-0 victory over the city rivals Fulham on Sunday.
The Chelsea man-in-charge Maurizio Sarri lined up his team with some expected changes as he promoted Olivier Giroud in place of the off-coloured Spaniard Alvaro Morata. Apart from that, Willian was also replaced by the ex-Barcelona winger Pedro Rodriguez. On the other hand, for Fulham, their manager Claudio Ranieri had to go for a forced substitution as the German international Andre Schurrle was left out following a minor hamstring injury.
The home side started the game in a drastic manner as the Spaniard Pedro took the lead for his side in the 4th minute of the game following some individual excellence by the Frenchman N’Golo Kante. The ex-Leicester man snatched the ball in the midfield following a casual approach by Seri and laid a pass off to the Spaniard. Pedro showed great composure in finishing the ball behind the back of the net. Chelsea extended their lead in the 82nd minute of the game as the youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored with a calm finish following a brilliant exchange with Eden Hazard. Although Chelsea won the match with hardly any difficulty, the defence still continues to be a headache for the manager as their last man on goal Kepa Arrizabalaga had to perform at his best for a few occasions. With this scoreline, The Blues retained their 4th spot with 31 points, whereas, Fulham can find themselves at the bottom of the table with only 8 points in hand.
