The ‘big six’ of Premier League have not only concentrated on acquiring the biggest names of world football but also scouted youngsters across the globe to strengthen the backbone with top-notch academy recruits. Vilius Piliukaitis, the 17-year-old Lithuanian is one such resource who has made significant strides in past three months and is now being chased by Liverpool and Manchester United whereas the other heavyweights are also keeping close tabs on his growth.

Piliukaitis joined Blackburn Rovers back in August on a season-long loan from FK Panevėžys and is impressing in U18 Premier League having scored and assisted twice each in a thumping victory over West Brom after grabbing the man of the match reward against Manchester City last month where he scored the solitary goal for the Rovers in a 1-1 draw. The Blue and Whites are keen on triggering the option-to-buy clause of his contract but expecting an uphill battle to fend off interest from the Red Devils as well as Liverpool who are weighing up a move for the teenager in the winter transfer window.

The midfield starlet also left his mark for his nation in UEFA European Under-17 Championship and showcased great impact in and around the box with his creativity, finishing traits and all-round football. His inclusion will enhance the quality in youth level but must live up to the hype in order to secure a sporadic first-team status in a couple of years time. Liverpool and Manchester United, both have star-studded line-ups to contest for silverware with the latter are tipped to splash the cash in January for further reinforcements after an anxious start.
