The hosts started the day in a spirited fashion and within the first ten minutes, they tested De Gea twice. The Spaniard got the better of the Bournemouth on both occasions, but the blow was coming. Soon, from a corner, the ball got diverted to Stanislas who sent a low pass to the box from the right flank. It fell nicely on to the path of Wilson who did not make any mistake to slot it home from a close range.
Bournemouth were clearly the better side for the first half an hour of the game. They got better chances and could have increased their lead as well. The visitors eventually found some grounds after the thirty minute mark. They started to play as a unit and the result was imminent. An attack that started through Sanchez in the middle found Young on the right who then passed it back to the Chilean. The midfielder then squared it to Martial whose immaculate shot was good enough to restore parity at the Vitality Stadium.
Following a 1-1 scoreline at the break, the two teams kicked off the second half positively. This time, Manchester United created a couple of good chances within the first ten minutes, but Begovic was alert and made important saves for Bournemouth. Then, right after the hour mark, the Red Devils got an amazing opportunity to go forward, but Rashford and Pogba missed consecutive chances to net the ball from a close range.
Begovic continued his stunning form throughout the rest of the game and stopped United attacks time and again. Although the away side were better in this half, Eddie Howe’s men were on course to secure one point. But, late drama was yet to unfold. During the stoppage time, Pogba attacked from the left side and sent a delicate cross in the middle of Bournemouth box. Rashford was there at the receiving end. He needed time to get his composure but in the end, the youngster managed to hit the back of the nets to ensure a 2-1 victory for the struggling United side.
