Manchester United have gone four games without a win in all competitions and look badly out of touch heading into Saturday’s clash with Newcastle and this might be the best opportunity for Rafael Benitez men taking advantage of the situation.
Newcastle after a disappointing transfer campaign have managed only two draws till now and looking like one of the top candidates of relegation scare. A 10th-place finish last season was a remarkable achievement for the Magpies, but they have been slow to get going this term and travel to Old Trafford as one of only three Premier League teams still without a win this season. But with mastermind Benitez at the helm, his team will certainly put all their efforts in the game to turn things around again.
On the other hand, Speculation regarding Mourinho’s own future continues to grow too after dismissal displays which include only one win at home in all competition. Hence, a defeat to Newcastle this weekend could leave the club’s hierarchy with an important decision to make during the second international break of the season.
Manchester United vs Newcastle United Team News:
United are expected to line-up a usual team which they fielded against Valencia in midweek. Paul Pogba is expected to start, despite his ongoing saga with manager Jose Mourinho and defender Victor Lindelof is likely to feature again in place of Eric Bailly along with Chris Smalling.
Romelu Lukaku is also likely to lead the attack line again despite not finding the net five consecutive game but with the Belgian having a record of scoring ten goals in ten games against Newcastle, the former Everton player is an obvious choice to supervise the attack. However, Jesse Lingard, Ander Herrera, Ashley Young and Marcos Rojo all are likely to miss out again this weekend due to injury issues after missing United’s midweek bore draw against Valencia.
Newcastle, on the other hand, are enduring some serious injury issues with forwarding Salomon Rondon still out injured due to a thigh injury, while long-term absentee Florian Lejeune remains on the sidelines. The former Liverpool manager also has concerns with the fitness of two defenders, Federico Fernandez and Paul Dummett but both could make a return from hamstring injuries should the results of the late fitness tests come as positive.
