Chelsea’s perfect start to the season, following five-game winning streak, has come to an end finally at the London Stadium in their away fixture against West Ham United as they have settled down for a goalless scoreline in the end.
Chelsea’s newly appointed man-in-charge Maurizio Sarri had shown concerns prior to the game explaining the match as the toughest for the season. West Ham, on the other hand, have justified Sarri’s concerns with an instrumental show on the pitch. Despite the worst start to the season, The Hammers’ ability was visible to the viewers with effective signings and the presence of the veteran mastermind Manuel Pellegrini. Chelsea seemed to be tired throughout the match a few of their players including Jorginho, Cesar Azpilicueta, N’Golo Kante and Marcos Alonso have been featuring since the commencement of the new season.
Apart from that, the previous match’s hattrick hero Eden Hazard was also not up to the mark missing his usual rhythm in the game. Injured Pedro’s replacement Willian also did not have an impressive move on the pitch. As a result, in spite of having a huge amount of possession, the attacks went in vain. On the other hand, The Hammers played the perfect tactical game with stable defence, which was unable for this tired Chelsea side to penetrate. The scoreline could have gone in favour of the home team, had the forward Michail Antonio and the Ukrainian winger Andriy Yarmolenko not missed the opportunities from one on one situation.
With this scoreline, Chelsea have faced a downfall to the third position with Liverpool leading the table. On the other hand, West Ham ended the gameweek 6 with only one place above the relegation zone.
