After a disappointing display in the last season and being unable to qualify for the UEFA Champions League this season, Chelsea are about to flag off their campaign in the UEFA Europa League with an away fixture against the Greek side PAOK FC at Toumba Stadium on Thursday.
The Blues from the West London have been on a terrific form since the beginning of the new season. Under the newly appointed manager Maurizio Sarri they have secured five dominated victories in a row. So, they will be highly optimistic to continue the form in the European competition also.
On the other hand, the Greek side may start the game on backfoot. But with the support of their home crowd, they can also be proved to be drastic up to some extent. PAOK manager Răzvan Lucescu will also be keen on securing some points from the particular home fixture.
With the squad depth of this Chelsea side and a congested fixture, the Italian man-in-charge Maurizio Sarri may rely on reshuffling his squad. He has mentioned in the post-match press conference on Saturday that in Italy, they had got an extra day in between the Europa League fixture and the Serie A fixture. But in England, he does not have that facility. So, the youngsters like Ethan Ampadu, Andreas Christensen and some benched players like Davide Zappacosta, Ross Barkley may feature in the starting line-up. Eden Hazard, the hat-trick hero in the previous match might be rested for this tie.
On the other hand, PAOK manager Răzvan Lucescu will try to line-up his side in the best possible way to secure a fair result in their favour.
For PAOK, their key players might be both of their wingers including Leo Jaba and Diego Biseswar. Apart from that, Nikos Karelis can also be proved to be crucial to the Chelsea defence. On the other hand, for Chelsea, their midfielder Jorginho is the engine for the side. But with some random appearances, the Italian might be rested. Apart from that, Eden Hazard is always a nightmare to any defence any day. But he can also find his spot in the bench for this tie. So, their both the wingers including Willian and Pedro Rodriguez can be dreadful upfront.
