Former Arsenal legend Ian Wright has admitted that he was delighted for Lucas Torreira after he helped Arsenal to a 2-1 victory at Newcastle United last week but urged manager Unai Emery to provide him more game time.
Arsenal’s new Summer signing £26million midfielder from Sampdoria was once again overlooked by manager Emery and the Spaniard instead again kept faith on young Guendouzi to start the game.
But after a frustrating goalless first 45 minutes, Emery decided to tweak some changes in the lineup and brought Torrerira in the set-up. And soon after bringing him into the game, the team altogether looked fresh to bring the ball forward. Just withing nine minutes into the game in the second half, Arsenal got the result of their positiveness after Granit Xhaka broke the deadlock with a sumptuous free-kick. Mesut Ozil then doubled their tally 10 minutes after to give Unai Emery’s men breathing space.
Although in the dying minutes, opponent defender Ciaran Clark pulled one back for the hosts in stoppage time but Arsenal all along looked secure to grab all three points.
Following the game, two fellow pundits former Arsenal legend Ian Wright and ex-Newcastle player Alan Shearer could not stop gushing about the player’s impact on the game and both of them suggested the performance might now help him hand him his first team start soon.

Speaking on Match of the Day on Saturday night, Wright said: “I am delighted for Torreira, because he wants to get the ball forward he wants to attack and get players forward that can hep hurt the opposition.
“That’s why I wanted him to play [from the start].”
While Wright was fascinated with his team’s new recruit, opponent pundit and former Premier league rival Alan Shearer was equally impressed with the capability Torreira demonstrated.
“Torreira came on and he changed the game,” he said.
“He bossed the midfield and his first thought was ‘how can I go forward’?
“Arsenal were the much better team in the second half.
“Torreira kept everything moving and ticking along.”
Arsenal made it three consecutive wins in the Premier League after two consecutive defeats but now up to nine points in the league, level on points with rivals, Tottenham and Manchester United, sitting seventh.

They will be back in action again this midweek on Thursday night against Vorskla in the Europa league and everything goes well, this game might see Torreira appearing from the start for the very first time.
