According to a recent report via Fanatik Sports Newspaper, Premier League giants Manchester City and Manchester United are apparently keeping close tabs on Turkish wonderkid Elif Elmas.
18-year-old and Macedonian born to Turkish descent, Elif Elmas started playing football at a very young age. Despite being in his teens, the Macedonian international has already made his presence known on the entire Turkish super-lig, thanks to impressive performances for FK Rabotnichki.
Elmas initially started his senior career under FK Rabotnichki in the year 2015. He went on to represent the Macedonian club for two years before being eventually signed by Turkish supergiants Fenerbahce in 2017. In the same year, Elmas also made his much-awaited national team debut for Macedonia when he came on at halftime as a substitute for Ostoja Stjepanovic in a FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifier against former World Champions Spain.
Following his recent performances for both club and country, defending Premier League champions Manchester City are apparently set to go head-to-head against German giants Borussia Dortmund to sign Elmas during the upcoming transfer window in January.
Per Fanatik Newspaper’s report, Manchester City sent their scouts to watch Elmas’ performance for Macedonia over the recently concluded International break. Following that visit, the Citizens are apparently preparing an ‘astronomic offer’ for the 18-year-old.
Despite being in the teenage years, Fenerbahce boss Phillip Cocu has decided to show his faith towards the 18-year-old and has established Elmas as one of most developed players at Fenerbahce.
The Turkish club is apparently also looking forward to holding a meeting in order to discuss the 18-year-old’s future. As per former Fenerbahce President Aziz Yildrim, it was revealed that Manchester City have actually made a bid for Elmas and a staggering total of 26 other clubs are interested in signing the midfield upstart.
Among those 26 clubs, the most notable name is that of the Premier League giants Manchester United. Reports suggest that Jose Mourinho’s side are also interested in bringing in Elmas to England and further develop the Macedonian to a future star.
