Jose Mourinho is relieved momentarily, as his team defeated Burnley 2-0, just before the international break. However, an away win from the Watford vs Manchester United fixture is going to be absolutely crucial for the confidence of the Portuguese and the Red Devils.
Watford, to everyone’s utter surprise, have been a delight to watch. They have got four wins from as many matches so far, thus being one of the three teams to maintain a clean record in the British top flight. During the last gameweek, the victory was even more special as they came back from behind against Tottenham and got a 2-1 win to consolidate their spot in the top three of the league log.
United, on the other hand, were handed a shock defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion in the second gameweek. This followed by a 0-3 thrashing at home against Spurs. In addition, there have been a lot of off-the-field controversies going on with Mourinho, Paul Pogba and a couple of other players. Amidst all these, the win over Burnley was a solace for the side, but to really get back on track, they cannot aim for anything but three points when they face Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday.
Watford vs Manchester United – Team news:
The home side are beaming with confidence, and that would be further boosted as according to recent reports, Gerard Deulofeu might be available for this match. He, however, is expected to start from the bench. Midfielder Tom Cleverley is still out though. So far as the starting lineup is concerned, we do not expect any surprise and the following eleven should kick it off against Manchester United.
The visitors have a few problems at hand. Luke Shaw has been one of the prime performers for the team, but he got a head injury during the international break. And because of the club policies regarding concussion, he will have to sit this match out. Ashley Young is expected to start on the left wing in his absence. Additionally, in defense, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo are also unavailable.
Marcus Rashford was given marching orders in the last match and he will serve the suspension. Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku are expected to start up front while Fred might be brought back in the center to join Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic. There are doubts over Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera’s availability, but they should at least make it to the bench on time. Here is the expected lineup for the away side:
