Manchester United are set to make an important trip to Burnley which could turn out to be one of the most important games for Jose Mourinho’s career.
Mourinho is well and truly under pressure at United after two back to back defeats against Brighton and Tottenham and now one more bad result against a team it could ring the bell of the end for Mourinho.
At the start of the Premier League, a couple of weeks back Manchester United were backed more than for qualifying for the Champions League spot let alone the Premier League but fast forward now, United are already nine points behind league leaders Liverpool and Chelsea and a lose/draw against Burnley will seriously start questioning their fate for this season.
Burnley on the other hand after enduring a fairytale campaign last term, qualifying for the first time in Europe have also started the season miserably.
Sean Dyche’s men bow out of Europa midweek while have only gathered only one point till now from possible nine, drawing with Southampton on the opening weekend, followed up with a defeat against Watford the following week and another loss against Fulham.
Both the managers hence will look to resurgence their season in this fixture and fans can only expect a mouth-watering clash in Turf Moor today.
Burnley vs Manchester United Team News:
Burnley made several changes during their midweek encounter against Olympiacos which ended in 1-1 daw resulting an exit from the Europa league. Sean Dyche could make changes in the defense with Tarkowski in place of Long while Westwood could be benched for Jack Cork.
Burnley, however, will be without winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson due to a hamstring problem, and youngster Dwight McNeil could get a start.
Forward Ashley Barnes is expected to come back into the attack to take his place behind Chris Wood, who could remain in the team ahead of Sam Vokes.
Mourinho deployed a back three formation against Tottenham last week with midfielder Ander Herrera playing an auxiliary right center-back role. The move was apparently made by Mourinho to man mark the threat from Eriksen. However, with Burnley mostly play as 4-4-2 formations, Manchester United are expected to make a change to their previous 4-3-3 formation with Matic, Fred, and Pogba in the midfield. Sanchez was in the bench against Tottenham only to arrive for the last 35
minutes of the game. But the Chilean is now expected to start in the game alongside Lukaku and Lingard in the offensive third.
Phil Jones is the only injury concern for the game while last week’s absentees Romero and new arrival Dalot is expected to miss the game who only appeared first time in the season this week in United’s U23 fixture. In Jone’s absence, Lindelof could take his place who also arrived from the bench last week.
