Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 4 Differentials
A differential is a player who has low ownership and can really help you climb the rankings if they do well because most teams do not have them so very will reap the rewards if they do well. Here I look at three players who can be savvy differentials for Gameweek 4.
(Note: I have considered those players as differentials who have less than 10% ownership in FPL).
1. Pascal Groß– 6.9 million (Ownership 5.2%)
Home Form :
All seven of Groß goals and six of his eight assists were recorded at home last season.
In his only home game this season, he has already scored a goal and accrued maximum points thereby helping himself to a double-digit haul.
Porous Fulham Defense :
Fulham have already conceded seven goals in their three games so far, and their defence has been breached at least twice in each of their three matches so far. That should bode well for Brighton attackers, especially Groß who is the focal point of their account.
Possible Deja Vu?
In last season’s Gameweek 4 Pascal Groß scored a brace, provided an assist and got maximum bonus points to score 18 points. For those loving nostalgia, Groß could prove to a cheeky punt.
2. Dele Alli – 9.1 million (7.3% ownership)
Underlying Statistics :
Dele Alli is the sole midfielder able to match Salah’s six shots on target match. While the FPL market is more focused on Harry Kane and Lucas Moura for Spurs attacking coverage, Dele Alli has quietly gone under the radar so far and can prove to be a shrewd differential.
Personal record versus Watford :
Alli has scored four goals and assisted another in his last five Premier League games against the Hornets. Given Spurs fine start to the Premier League (nine points and seven goals scored), Alli has every chance of continuing his strong personal form against the Hornets.
Spurs Fine record versus Watford :
Watford have failed to win all of their previous ten Premier League encounters with Tottenham Hotspur (W0 D3 L7); the most games they’ve played against any opponent without winning in the competition. This should increase the chances of a Spurs win and thereby increasing the chances of Alli getting attacking returns.
3. Gylfi Sigurdsson – 7.4 million (1.5% ownership)
Underlying Stats :
Only four players have created more chances than the Icelandic international. He has also given the most number of successful crosses this season (8).
Focal Point of attack due to No Richarlison :
Though the FPL market has jumped on the Theo Walcott bandwagon, it is Sigurdsson who will be the focal point of the attack. He is also on set pieces which further increases his appeal.
Obliging Huddersfield Town defence:
Huddersfield Town have already conceded nine goals this season and are bottom for big chances conceded (11). Add Marco Silva’s attacking style of play, and Sigurdsson looks like canny differential for this gameweek.
