Premier League second game week went by and the week was not without surprises.
Despite Champions Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool FC registering comfortable victories, Manchester United suffered a shock 2-3 loss at Brighton. Chelsea also got the better of local rivals Arsenal. Here are our top picks for goal of the week:
3) Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) vs Huddersfield Town:
On a day when City annihilated Huddersfield 6-0, their record goal scorer wooed the world again with another hat-trick. When it comes to the Premier League Sergio Aguero is unputdownable. With 3 goals in 3 different versions he showed how lethal can he be. But his hat-trick goal has to be the pick of the lot. Benjamin Mendy’s France was the cause of Aguero’s Argentina’s elimination from the World Cup this summer. But this time, he turned provider for him. Mendy’s cross from the left was met by the Argentine with the outside of his right foot, after a slight leap. The goal marked his 13th time, taking the match ball home while in the Light Blue of Man City.
2) Lucas Moura (Tottenham Hotspur) vs Fulham FC:
Lucas Moura came to North London last winter, and since have not made too big of an impact for the Spurs. But his goal against Fulham has won him over with the Spurs faithful last Saturday. After Eriksen’s low cross into the penalty box was thwarted by the Cottagers’ defence, the ball nicely fell for the Brazilian on the edge of the penalty box. The Former PSG man, hit a first time left footer that curled into the top left corner of the goal.
1) Callum Wilson (AFC Bournemouth) vs West Ham United:
Callum Wilson has always shown that he has got a knack of scoring a goal or two, and sometimes a few are of the top draw. When his side was trailing against West Ham at the London Stadium, he decided to bring his A-Game out again. Just on the hour mark, he received the ball in the middle of the West Ham half, with 5 players around him. To his disadvantage not a single Bournemouth player was around him. He started a pendulum run with the ball towards the box. He got passed the sliding trio of Fabian Balbuena, Pablo Zabaleta and Angelo Ogbonna before slotting the ball home passed Lukasz Fabianski with a neat finish. Wilson’s classic solo goal is our goal of the week.
