Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has reportedly rejected a possible move to Manchester United this summer, according to reports of several German outlets.

According to the German media, the German defender reportedly called Jose Mourinho to inform him of his decision. The 29-year old Germany international has been at the 28-times German champions since joining from Manchester City in 2011. He has since won six Bundesliga, three DFB Pokal, two DFL Supercup, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup for the Bavarians.

According to Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the club would allow Boateng to move away from the club, if a right offer is made. According to reports, Bayern are looking for a fee of around €50 million.

Boateng himself has also expressed his desire to keep his options of moving abroad, open for the time being. This is despite the fact that he has not commented on the same since Bayern training sessions commenced again.

Boateng has been linked with French Champions Paris Saint Germain, for quite some time now. The Red Devils only began his pursuit in the weekend in a bid to reinforce more to their back-line before the culmination of the transfer day deadline.

But, according to reports by Bild and kicker, Boateng called United manager Mourinho on Tuesday to inform him that he will not be moving to Old Trafford this summer.

Bild was the first to report about Boateng’s rejection of United on Tuesday. According to them, Boateng’s conversation with the new Bayern manager Niko Kovac, influenced the 2014 World Cup winner’s decision.

Boateng, still has the possibility to move to Paris Saint Germain. The new PSG coach Thomas Tuchel has been reportedly staying in touch with the Bayern defender since Germany got knocked out in the group stages of the World Cup.

Kicker later also reported that former PSG coach Unai Emery’s present side Arsenal have also set their sights on the Germany international. But it remains to be seen if Boateng can return to the Premier League or not, given it is less than 24 hours to go for the deadline to be over.
