Barcelona are in search to sell Andre Gomes, and the latest team they are offering the midfielder is Arsenal, according to various reports.
Since his move from Valencia, the attacking midfielder has failed to impress at his new club and reportedly Barcelona are going to give up on him and want to offload him as early as this summer. The 24 year old was a bright prospect when he arrived from Mestalla in 2016, but since then has faded away under the shadow of Messi, Suarez and others.
With Barcelona signing Coutinho this year, his chances will be more limited, and that’s why Barcelona are also keen to let the player go, and a couple of Premier League clubs were interested in him. Both West Ham and Spurs wanted Gomes, but the former recently signed Felipe Anderson.
And now there may be a possibility that Gomes ends up at the Emirates, given the impression manager Unai Emery has on him. Emery is an admirer of the Portuguese and praised the player during his Valencia days.
Gomes is also unhappy with his stint at Barcelona and wants to seek pastures new.
“I don’t feel good on the pitch,” Gomes told Panenka magazine in March. “I am not enjoying what I am doing. The first six months were pretty good but then things changed. Maybe it’s not the right word to use, but it has turned into a kind of hell, because I have started to feel more pressure. The feeling that I have during games is bad,” Gomes added, clearly depicting his intentions of leaving the club.
It has been also reported that Arsenal manager Unai Emery is looking to sign still at least another player and if Gomes comes offering, it has to be seen how Unai Emery reacts because it has been speculated that Arsenal manager is eyeing to snap up a pacey winger and a left back before the end of the transfer window.
