Another South American test awaits for Les Blues when they take on Uruguay on Friday in the Nizhny Novogord Stadium as the Quarter Finals of the World Cup commences.
Team and Injury News:
Uruguay do have a major injury concern as Edinson Cavani got injured in the last match against Portugal. Oscar Tabarez will have to think without the PSG striker and that will mean a start for Stuani if Cavani doesn’t manage to get himself pass the fitness test. The South Americans will have Suarez along with Stuani and in the midfield it will be the new sensation Lucas Torreira, who was outstanding in the game against Portugal.
France do have a suspension issue as Blaise Matuidi is susepended and Corentin Tolisso or Steven Nzonzi is set to replace him. Deschamps will be poised to start with Olivier Giroud given the stature of Uruguay centre backs, and Griezmann and Mbappe will play behind the former Arsenal striker.
The battle between two former Champions promises to be an intriguing one as both the sides have looked solid so far.
Uruguay so far have conceded a solitary goal in the tournament and against the France side it will be another challenge to keep the French forwards quiet. The pair of Godin and Gimenez along with Torreira will have to close them down as the vow for a Semi Final spot. France on the other side were daunting against Argentina and they will rely on the young sensation Kylian Mbappe, who bamboozled Argentine defense and scored to spectacular goals. Missing Edinson Cavani will be a big factor as the 31 year old scored two amazing goals against Portugal, but it has to be seen how the two time Champions cope without their talisman.
Probable Line Up:
Uruguay: Muslera; Laxalt, Godin, Gimenez, Caceres; Bentancur, Torreira, Vecino, Nandez; Stuani, Suarez
France: Lloris; Pavard, Varane, Umtiti, Hernandez; Kante, Nzonzi, Pogba; Griezmann, Mbappe, Giroud
