Papastathopoulos has been proved to be one of the most dependable players on the Dortmund defense since his arrival from Werder Bremen back in 2013. Although the 30-year-old Greece defender had received a late offer from another English giants, Manchester United, he decided to join the London club instead.

“United had a very good relationship with Dortmund, the teams talked a lot, but Socrates chose to go to Arsenal,” his father added, “He is happy, he is in England at the moment, and tomorrow everything will be done, the formal, everything will go well, he is happy, he is changing, I think he is going to a higher level. English league is the highest in the world, the most competitive and I believe there will go well.”

After sealing the Sokratis deal, the newly appointed Arsenal manager is preparing a bid for the Mexican star Hector Herrera, according to Daily Mirror. Reportedly, The Gunners have to win the bid against the other English sides, West Ham and Everton. Apart from that the Italian side Roma are also lining up with a bid for the Porto midfielder.

Lastly, Arsenal are also ready to secure a deal for the Real Betis youngster Junior Firpo as a replacement of the left-back Nacho Monreal, whose contract with the club will come to an end at the end of the season and the player is expected to make a return to his homeland Spain with Real Sociedad. If the deal comes in reality, the 21-year-old youngster will be a potential signing for The Gunners.
