Colombia registered a pivotal win over Poland while Senegal and Japan played out a four goal thriller to share the spoils as the Group H hots up for an exciting final game day in Russia.

Setting the Scene:

Japan shocked Colombia in their first match while Senegal prevailed over Poland, hence win of either meant that the team will qualify for the Last 16 of the World Cup. The South Americans and The Europeans on the other hand needed a positive result to storm themselves back in the contention.

 

Japan vs Senegal:

Sadio Mane gave the African country a massive lead but Takashi Inui equalised for the Blue Samurai to make it 1-1 at the half time. Both the teams played some good football and played attacking football, causing problems in the opposition defense.

Senegal took the lead for the second time when Wague netted for them in the 71st minute, only to be cancelled out by veteran Keisuke Honda, who scored to level it up for Japan 12 minutes from time. It was entertaining game but both teams only could share the spoils after the full time. The draw means both Japan and Senegal are on 4 points after playing two games each.

Poland vs Colombia:

This suppossed to be a fierce and competitive encounter, but it happened to be a cakewalk for Los Cafeteros.

Yerry Mina gave them the lead and then the lead for the South Americans was doubled by their talismanic man Radamel Falcao. Juan Cuadrado added a third to complete the misery of the Polish as they now bow out of the tournament with a game to spare. Robert Lewandoski and his side have underperformed in both the matches and hey still have no point on the board after two matches.

Aftermaths:

The final match day will see Senegal and Colombia clash while Poland will face Japan. Poland may be are out but they can cause a significant blow to Japan’s chances if they beat the Asians.
