Iran vs Spain: Preview, Possible Line-ups, Latest Updates and more

Spain need to get a win from this fixture against Asian surprise package Iran.

Following a dramatic 3-3 draw against Portugal in their opening match, 2010 World Cup Winners Spain are now determined to get maximum three points against Group B leaders Iran.

Iran, who are currently fresh off huge 1-0 win over Morocco, will once again look to cause another major upset later today against the La Roja, in order to seemingly confirm their place in the Quarter Finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Iran vs Spain injury update:

Real Madrid right back Dani Carvajal is apparently all set to make his return to the national side, as Fernando Hierro has evidently confirmed that the fullback is finally match fit and will replace Nacho in the right back position, despite the latter’s mesmerized goal against Portugal last week. Iran, on the other hand, do not have any prominent injuries and are likely to start with their same starting XI.

Previous Meetings:

This will be the very first encounter between Spain and Iran, as both teams have never crossed paths before against each other.

Iran vs Spain possible lineups:

Key Players:

The Iranian attack is definitely stacked with a lot of talented players and the likes of Azmoun, Ansarifard, and Amiri will be players to watch out for. However, the Iran front line definitely need to perform better than their previous match against the Moroccans, given the fact that the former did not have a single attempt on goal in the second half.

Spain, meanwhile, have to be on their toes and make sure they do not get too carried away despite having one of the most balanced squads’ this year.

Striker Diego Costa is obviously going to be the biggest threat for Iran, after the Atletico Madrid forward scored two brilliant goals against Portugal. The midfield trio of David Silva, Andreas Iniesta and Isco was also very lively in Spain’s Group B opener and are certainly capable of causing a lot of damage as a whole.
