Preview:

Germany, being the World Champions are favorites but their recent on field results haven’t been good as they have won one in their last six friendlies that included a loss against Austria as well. Loew have a top squad and should be able to see off Mexico as they did last year in the Confederations Cup, when they beat El Tri 4-1.

There is a lot to admire about Mexico’s consistency in reaching the last 16 in past six consecutive occasions but supporters are also waiting for the next step to be achieved and El Tri must perform to their maximum to go further in Russia. Any positive result against Germany will be regarded as a bonus, but Osorio will want his players to build confidence ahead of their later fixtures with South Korea and Sweden, games which could be decisive laeding to the latter stages of the group phase.
