Arsenal are among the teams who want to bring Mario Gotze to the Premier League from Borussia Dortmund. The player also wants a change after the midfielder’s recent troublesome years in Germany.
Arsenal are looking to sign the 26 year old
The 26 year old won the World Cup with Germany four years ago and also scored the memorable winner in the final against Argentina. Since then his career, which promised to reach the new heights have taken a disapoointing downward spiral as the player have had some torrid last couple of years. His stint with Bayern Munich didn’t work out and then after that a return to Borussia last year have been rather very underwhelming.
But Arsenal’s new head of recruitment Sven Mislintat knows Gotze very well and a deal may well be a relaity in the summer as the Gunners look to make some significant additions to their squad.
The German didn’t have a good time with Bayern
Gotze has been plagued with injuries in the last couple of years and also suffered from a metabolic disease a year and half ago, which took him out of the pitch for time and caused weight gain, leading to loss of fitness. His return to the main fold last season was rather cold as he scored only 2 goals in the whole season. His terrible off form has also cost his place in the national side as manager Joachim Loew omitted him from the World Cup squad.
He said, “If a player scores the decisive goal in the final at such a young age, it can be a burden later.” He also added that he hopes that Gotze will come back in future.
And to make that happen, the player himself wants a move to the Premier League and prove his critics wrong. And Arsenal are among the clubs who want him reportedly, with the likes of Everton, West Ham and Leicester also keeping close tabs.
Gotze scored the winning goal for Germany in the WC in Brazil
It is believed that the player is available for as little as £18 million and that can be a decent deal provided the class and quality of Gotze.
Gunners are on line already to bring another German in as Bernd Leno is expected to join the North London side from Bayer Leverkusen.
