Manchester United are on the verge of making their first signing of this summer as they are believed to be negotiating with Shakhtar Donetsk for Fred.
The Brazilian midfielder has attracted a number of suitors in the transfer market but it seems he is on his way to Old Trafford very soon.
The 25 year old midfielder is one of the most sought after players in the European circuit and Jose Mourinho now wants to seal a deal for him as soon as possible. United hierarchy is trying to put things on the place and the Red Devils could announce his arrival before the World Cup which is scheduled to take off from June 14.
The move for the midfielder is not a surprising one. Mourinho earlier hinted that he would like to see some Brazilian faces on his side which do not have any Brazilian players as of now. “I think that a team without a Brazilian isn’t a team. But also, a squad with three or four Brazilian athletes, depending on their profile, cannot make a great team too. I’m kidding!
“I think their talent is fantastic and the creativity of the Brazilian player cannot be measured. If a European team, like, very European, could have a Brazilian in their squad, it would bring a ‘Brazilian thing’ to the game and I think that’s very important.”
United had a progressive season under the tutelage of the Portuguese gaffer but they failed to provide any kind of challenge to Manchester City who sealed the title pretty comfortably with a huge 19 points margin.
Although there are reports of Paul Pogba’s departure in the summer but that is unlikely to happen and with Fred joining, the United midfield would be pretty powerful.
The Brazilian midfielder is best suited in the box to box role but when it comes to playing style both the players are very contrasting as they possess a different skill-set. The French man is very calm and composed on the ball and has his own way to take the ball forward while Fred is more of an ultimate midfield engine.
The Brazilian international loves to take on the defenders and can lead the charge from both side of the pitch. A brilliant tackler of the ball his defensive skills are impressive and should he come to the side he would seamlessly fit into the three man midfield system that Mourinho has been using for quite some time.
