This season has not been the best for either Chelsea or Manchester United. However, the two sides will have a shot at a silverware, as they are about to lock horns in the FA Cup Final on Saturday night.
Following a disastrous run of events in the Premier League, Chelsea failed to sneak into the top four, and thereby lost a chance to qualify for the Champions League next season. This might also lead to Antonio Conte’s departure from the club and hence, the players should be pumped enough to give him a perfect farewell with a win in the FA Cup Final.
Jose Mourinho, on the other hand, is in a slightly better situation. Albeit his side failed to win any trophy so far in this season and were knocked out of the European extravaganza against a weak Sevilla side, it cannot be overlooked that Manchester United finished second in the Premier League table. This has been their best performance in the British top flight since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement. In fact, their points tally this season would have been good enough to win them the coveted title, unless Manchester City performed brilliantly. Nonetheless, the Portuguese has shown that he can lead this side to glory and he would definitely want to finish the season with an emphatic victory over Chelsea.
FA Cup Final – team news:
Conte decided to hand a starting berth to Ross Barkley, Timothy Bakayoko and Emerson in the last Premier League outing against Newcastle United. The result was scary, as the players failed to impress and the Magpies thrashed Chelsea 3-0. It goes without saying that the gaffer will not experiment anymore and the best eleven will be named for the FA Cup Final. Hence, the scoring responsibilities will be once again on Eden Hazard, Willian and Olivier Giroud. Cesc Fabregas is also in a good touch at the moment and he has been confident about himself and his team. The Spaniard should be the one to partner N’Golo Kante in the center of the pitch. Following is how the starting eleven may look like:
Manchester United will be ecstatic to have their main striker back. Romelu Lukaku missed a few games due to an injury, and he’s expected to return for the scintillating FA Cup Final. It will be interesting to see which pair Mourinho chooses for the central defense position. Chances are high Chris Smalling will be reinstalled in the first eleven, alongside Eric Bailly. The rest of the team should not contain any surprise, and here is how the Red Devils may lineup for the Saturday fixture:
Manchester United are slightly more favourites with the odds of 13/8, while Chelsea’s chances are rated at 15/8.
