The hosts started positively and showed the intent to score first. West Ham’s player of the year, Arnautovic got the match’s first shot on target, and compelled De Gea to make a save early in the game. McTominay and Lingard also tried a couple of long-rangers, but the former’s shot stayed inches out of the post while Adrian parried Lingard’s strike away for a corner. Moments later, the Hammers custodian had to pull off back-to-back stunning saves off Sanchez and Shaw; and the score remained level at 0-0.

For the rest of the first half, it was just an end-to-end stuff, and the half ended goalless. Both managers needed to readjust their tactics to get three points, and the viewers were ready to see better actions for another forty-five minutes.

After the break, the two teams should have attacked more, but it seemed that they were more interested in getting a point apiece from this match. The players missed the urge to go forward and score, and roamed around leisurely around the pitch. In the end, West Ham managed to get one point from the fixture, and Manchester United clinched the second place of the Premier League 2017/18 season.
