With a victory over Brighton on the last matchday, he can also see his team secure a top four finish. Needless to say, Mo Salah has been the major force for Liverpool. He has scored 42 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions, and is currently the highest scorer in the British top flight. Along with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, the Egyptian has rampaged through the opponent defense in most matches.

At this moment, pundits can unanimously agree that that he has been the most successful Premier League signing this season. In fact, many would say that it was a magnificent bargain for Liverpool. They paid just £39.5m to get the winger who has having a great time at AS Roma. While some other big names in world football are getting hefty amounts in transfer fee, Liverpool are certainly delighted to get Salah in such a meagre sum.

The player has also got Football Writers’ Player of the Year award to add to his cabinet. He is enjoying his journey with Jurgen Klopp’s side, and naturally, a comparison is being drawn to his time at Chelsea when the then boss Jose Mourinho deemed him surplus to the main squad. Salah has now revealed that one of the reasons of his coming back to England was to prove that Chelsea and Mourinho were wrong to let him go.

“To be honest, it was always in my mind when I left Chelsea,” the Liverpool player said. “I said many times, it was always in my mind to come back because a lot of people said ‘he cannot succeed here [in England] and he is not good enough for the Premier League’.

“So it was always in my mind to come back. I had two great seasons in Rome and everyone was telling me ‘no, don’t come back’ but it was always in my mind that I have to come back to prove them wrong.”

Mo Salah further talked about Liverpool’s chances of winning the Champions League. They will be up against Real Madrid who won three of the last four UCL finals. It will not be an easy task for the Reds but the star is positive that they can win the coveted title.

“We played in the semi-finals and quarter-finals against Roma and Manchester City. Both teams are very good. They have special quality and they have been outstanding this year.” Salah commented. “But it is only one game. It is not long. It is just one step so we have to keep fighting and I am excited. Everyone in the city is excited about so let’s see.”
