Liverpool’s jubilation in Champions League football continues, but, at the same time, they are yet to confirm a ‘top four’ finish in Premier League and need to win at Anfield against relegation battlers Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds scripted a massive 5-2 win at Anfield against AS Roma in the semi-final first leg encounter but are yet to ensure a decent outcome at Stadio Olimpico next midweek in order to secure a place in the mega final. Klopp is running out of ammo due to significant injury absentees but does not have the luxury to promote the youngsters against the Potters and will be forced to field a strong lineup to register a victory and spoil Chelsea’s hope of grabbing a place in next season’s Champions League football.
Liverpool vs Stoke City Injuries and Suspension
Liverpool have significant injury absentees in form of Joel Matip and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who are ruled out for the season with their respective thigh and knee injuries. Emre Can continues to be ruled out with a back injury whereas Adam Lallana is struggling to be fit and return this term following his hamstring strain. Sadio Mane is uncertain too with a knock and Klopp will be annoyed and worried prior to the crunch fixtures.
Stoke City have suspended Jese Rodriguez and Ibrahim Afellay due to internal disciplinary concerns whereas Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Konstantinos Stayfilidis are likely to be ruled out for the weekend trip with their respective groin and rib injuries.

Subs: Jakob Haugaard, Kurt Zouma, Moritz Bauer, Stephen Ireland, Geoff Cameron, Darren Fletcher, Tyrese Campbell.
Liverpool vs Stoke City Last Meeting:
Their last meeting at Anfield ended in a 4-1 win for the hosts despite being down in early minutes following Jonathan Walters’ opener. The Reds, however, went on scoring four times later on as Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge marked their name on the scoresheet and Stoke’s Giannelli Imbula netted an own goal around an hour mark.
Liverpool vs Stoke City Key Players:
Liverpool will vastly rely on their attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino who are in blistering form and likely to trouble the Potters’ backline. Mane, however, is uncertain for the tie and Danny Ings will be handed a start in place of the Senegalese sensation.
Stoke City, on the other hand, will largely rely on Xherdan Shaqiri who has been the only bright spark in a gloomy Stoke City lineup. 37-year-old Peter Crouch will be an aerial threat inside the Reds box whereas Jack Butland, the English custodian currently linked to a move to Liverpool, is likely to have a busy afternoon between the sticks.
