Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has hinted about his future at the club and it is something that will excite every Arsenal fan.
Bellerin is staying at Arsenal and wants number 2 shirt
The Gunners defender was a part of a recent video at the Arsenal official website along with Per Mertesacker and Rob Holding and the three defenders had to answer many questions that were asked to them.
And the Spanish International said that he is going to ask for the number two shirt next summer, which definitely suggests that Bellerin is staying at the Emirates beyond the summer.
Talking to team-mates Per Mertesacker and Rob Holding on the club’s official YouTube page, Bellerin said: “In the summer, I’m going to ask for the number two shirt.
“I’ve already spoken to Vic, he knows.”
Despite signing a new contract until 2023, the young right back has been subject of many speculation of transfer away from the Emirates but the comment may have put some respite those odds. The defender wears number 24 shirt currently, but he has set his sight for the number 2 shirt, which was previously worn by Mathieu Debuchy.
The defender admitting of having no intentions to leave Arsenal will give Gooners a sigh of relief as they have seen many players leave this year and manager Arsene Wenger is also set to leave at the end of the season.
His agent Albert Botines also said a few weeks ago that he doesn’t see his client leaving Arsenal, at least for now.
Speaking on Italian radio station CRC, Botines said, “There’s no contact for Bellerin, no-one has sought me out. He’s happy, he’s recently renewed and he’s playing consistently. It’s true that every player always wants to grow, but right now it’s difficult [to see him leaving].”
In the video, Per Mertesacker also revealed his favorite shirt number which happens to be number 29, and the German seemed a bit sad as he couldn’t get his favorite one at Arsenal as it was occupied by Marouane Chamakh when he came at the club.
