Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United will welcome Premier League’s last boys West Bromwich to continue their winning momentum in the British top tier.
Last weekend was a fantastic outing for the Red Devils. They managed to come back from 0-2 against their city rivals, and delayed the inevitable Premier League title for Manchester City. Brilliant performances from Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez proved to be vital for United’s victory, and they consolidated their second spot in the league log. This was the fifth consecutive Premier League victory for Mourinho’s boys and they will look forward to extend the streak against a weak side this Sunday.
And that weak side is expected-to-be-relegated West Bromwich Albion. The Baggies have 21 points from 33 matches. They need to make up 10 points in the last five matches, and that sounds a daunting task for the side. However, after Tony Pulis’s departure, under new boss Darren Moore, West Bromwich started with a draw against Swansea and they will be aiming for an upset against United. This was their first point in nine matches, and that should provide little bit of confidence to the players.
The home side will miss the services of Sergio Romero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but barring that, Mourinho will be happy to get all his first team players. However, because of recent recovery from injuries, Ander Herrera, Phil Jones and Daley Blind are expected not to start the proceedings.
Anthony Martial, on the other hand, has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Sanchez and once again, he might start from the bench. It will be interesting to see which two players accompany Sanchez in the attacking third. It would probably be Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata, but Marcus Rashford can also get the nod ahead of the latter.
West Bromwich manager will have a lot to worry about. Gareth Barry, Johnny Evans, Hal Robson Kanu and James Morrison are out with injuries. Sam Field and Daniel Sturridge are also not fully fit and will probably be unavailable for this trip. Nacer Chadli, on the other hand, might be fit on time to at least make the bench, and that will be very good for the away side. However, the onus will be on Solomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez to provide the necessary firepower at the front.
Here is the predicted starting lineup for West Bromwich Albion.
Manchester United: W-W-W-W-W
West Bromwich Albion: D-L-L-L-L
Manchester United win: 1/5
West Bromwich win: 14/1
