Anthony Martial Saga : Frenchman linked with a move to European powerhouse

Anthony Martial is not the first choice for Jose Mourinho, and that might cause uncertainty over his future.

Anthony Martial’s future has been the subject of interest in the past few days. The French youngster has lit up the Premier League with a bagful of goals and assists but of late he has found it difficult to get a good run of games as he hasn’t been picked in the last few matches including the Manchester derby and the Liverpool match.

Martial’s ongoing situation has linked him with Italian champions Juventus. The Turin giants are contemplating an offer for the French forward as the 22 year old reportedly has turned down a new contract offer to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

Since Alexis Sanchez’s arrival in January martial has had a very limited number of appearances and that could be the reason for his recent downfall. Martial started the season in red hot form on the left side of the attack and seemed to be the preferred choice in the starting lineup.

Martial has proven his capability this season but still, he is yet to stamp his authority at the club fully and that might be due to Jose Mourinho’s continuous demands from his players.

The Portuguese manager is very strict with his players and wants his player to be involved with certain aspects of the game. Martial may not hit the level Mourinho has been craving for so long but he is just 22 and has a lot of catch up to do.

Martial arrived in 2015 from Monaco and is very popular among the supporters. He seems to have settled down pretty well in Manchester and Mourinho needs to ensure he remains in the right shape in the next season as United would be aiming for the English Premier League title.

Martial’s contract is due to expire at the end of the next season but United do have the option to extend it for another year. His raw pace and dazzling footwork have often caused problems for the opposition defenders and alongside playing on the flanks he can also be used upfront if needed.

With the likes of Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford emerging from the club Martial could follow their footsteps if he stays on the right path.
