Champions League: Manchester City vs Liverpool Preview, Line-ups, Betting Odds and Live Streaming

Liverpool have a 3-goal advantage but the job is half done only.

Liverpool’s incredible 3-0 win against mighty Manchester City in the Champions League quarterfinal first leg tie handed them a massive boost ahead of Tuesday night’s return leg fixture at Etihad, but they will have to fight out for another 90 minutes to make it to the semis amidst several injuries and suspension.

City were close to having a confirmation of their Premier League victory on Saturday evening but failed to keep hold of a 2-0 lead against Manchester United as the rivals came back strongly to notch three second-half goals to spoil their party. The Citizens will be desperate to shake off the shambles and throw everything to knock Liverpool down defying the odds.

Manchester City vs Liverpool Injuries And Suspension:

Manchester City have a decent fitness record so far this season and do not have any significant injury absentees except Benjamin Mendy who is ruled out with a knee injury sustained earlier this season.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have a long list of injuries. Joe Gomez is ruled out with an ankle strain whereas Joel Matip is out for the season as he needs to undergo a surgery after damaging his thigh muscle. Adam Lallana is having a tough campaign and ruled out once again sustaining a thigh injury against Crystal Palace. Alberto Moreno suffered a thigh strain too before the weekend’s Everton clash and Emre Can is unlikely to return from a back injury ahead of their trip to Manchester. Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson – two of Liverpool’s most influential figures are struggling with minor groin and knock but hopeful of a return ahead of the Tuesday night fixture. Jordan Henderson will miss the encounter due to suspension.

Manchester City vs Liverpool Last Meeting:

Their last meeting at Etihad ended in a disastrous 5-0 defeat for Liverpool following Sadio Mane’s early controversial sending off. Sergio Aguero broke the deadlock within half an hour and Gabriel Jesus, as well as Leroy Sane, scored twice later on to script a colossal win.

Manchester City vs Liverpool Key Players:

Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Leroy Sane, Ilkay Gundogan and David Silva – all are in scintillating form for the hosts and capable of knocking the Reds down and score as many goals as they wish if allowed to play their natural free-flowing and passing football.

Liverpool’s front three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and red-hot Mohamed Salah need to break a vulnerable City defence on the counter like they have done in their previous two meetings. But it is Liverpool’s backline who performed consistently in recent weeks but have this major test ahead of them now when they will be lined up against the Citizens at Etihad.
