Red Devils midfielder Ander Herrera has been vocal about his future at Manchester United, and he has expressed his intention to be a long-term player for the Premier League giants.
In recent times, Jose Mourinho has chosen to go with Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba at the center of the pitch. Marouane Fellaini is also one of the favourites for the Portuguese. After falling down this pecking order, Herrera’s future career at United might be at stake. But, the Spaniard sounded positive, while talking to United Review.
In order to address his future at the club, Herrera said, “I have already played more than 150 games for this club and I want to keep adding games and trying to play as well as possible because one day when I retire from football, I will say I had the chance to play for the greatest club in England.”
“So I want to enjoy every moment, not only the matches but also at the training ground. The first thing to be able to do that is to be fit and that’s why I am so happy to be back with the team,” he further added.
Not only he is not the first choice midfielder for the Manchester United boss, but his play-time has also been marred by some injuries. Herrera could only have 31 minutes of football in February and March because of unfortunate on-field incidents.
The 28 year old commented, “I haven’t had many injuries for the last two years but I’ve now been out for a few weeks and, as I say to my girlfriend, I am a very bad patient. I want to play, I want to be ready. I want to be available for the manager and for the team.”
Herrera played his part as a second half substitute against Swansea City on Saturday and he is again in line to feature against Manchester City at the Etihad this weekend.
