But in this article we shall look into some of the players who are veterans of IPL, have played for India as well, but still this season of Indian Premier League can be massive for them and the graph of their cricketing career can really make a significant turn depending on the outcome this season.

There are many players who are knocking on India selection but sometimes they are so near but so far. Here are the three players for whom this IPL season can be an annulment to a brighter direction-

  • Dinesh Karthik:

This name has been talked about a lot in the past few weeks or so, but not as much as it deserved in the past few years. Every cricket analyst, pundit had no doubt on Dinesh Karthik’s ability, but somewhere down the line they all feel that the player was a bit too unfortunate. He was overshadowed by MS Dhoni in Indian team, and has played for many franchise in the IPL like Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils, but this season he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 7.6 crore.

And he will lead the KKR side too, which will add more responsibility on his shoulder. His recent heroics in the Nidahas trophy in Sri Lanka was hailed by all but it may well be the time when Karthik must grab his opportunity in the limited formats and go on to give some consistency in his India career. His India career can be defined as In and Outs while his IPL graph has high and low with most being peripheral roles. But now Karthik has a huge opportunity to seize the chance in this season and perform well for KKR, which will obviously lead to a better longevity of his India career.

  • Suresh Raina:

Suresh Raina has been one of the most talented players for India in the limited formats over the last decade, but his recent performances has led to his exclusion from the team. But the UP batsman reunites with his old pals in Chennai Super Kings, the franchise that has given him all.

Raina is the highest run scorer in IPL, and will be eyeing to continue his rich vein of form in the competition to get a way back into the contention for a spot in the Indian team. The left handed batsman will have to perform really well to give himself a chance for India selection, and with some important tours coming up, it is high time that he racks up some runs for his cause in this season.

  • Yuvraj Singh:

The flamboyant, warrior Yuvraj Singh has to be in the list because you can’t keep him out of the game. His cricketing spiral has been optimum and then has crashed down due to health issues, still he was brave enough to beat the odds and come back in the field. His performances in the last couple of years in the IPL hasn’t been good, as he was bought for massive prices for the likes of Delhi Daredevils, RCB, Sunrisers but never performed at his level best.

This season he is back  from where he started it, and that is Kings XI Punjab. The Punjab boy is back in his abode and will be aiming to hit some nuts early, and if he gets his rhythm back late, another call up for the national team may well be on the cards. He is at the twilight of his career and recently said that has two or three IPLs more to play, and he will have to try and plan it to give it a grandstand finish. And as India hopes of the stylish left hand batsman is still possible, it will be a massive IPL for him.
