According to a recent report from Sports Mediaset, Maycon was reportedly wanted by both Arsenal FC and Italian giants Napoli, who are currently viewing the Brazilian as an ideal player for Maurizio Sarri’s possession-based style of play. However, it now seems like both these aforementioned clubs will have to shift their focus towards other signings as Maycon is apparently set to join Ukrainian club Shaktar Donetsk.

Maycon made his debut for Corinthians back in the year 2016 and has also had a loan spell at Ponte Preta. The 20-year-old has represented the Coringao on 38 different occasions and has been really impressive from the midfield.

In overall, Maycon has had a pretty solid year in his homeland and has been impressive for the past 18 months. The 20-year-old youngster has also become a mainstay of Fábio Carille’s title-winning side last season.

Additionally, it has been suggested that the Corinthians number 8 is likely to replace fellow countryman Fred at Shaktar Donetsk, as manager Paulo Fonseca may as well view him as an ideal replacement for the departing Brazilian, who now prepares to sign for Premier League club Manchester City and is set for a move to the Etihad Stadium.

With Maycon set to undergo a medical at Shaktar, he will evidently follow the footsteps of his fellow Brazilian players, in the form of, Willian, Douglas Costa, Fernandinho, Luiz Adriano, Bernard and many more who have represented both the Selecao and Shaktar over the course of the past few years. And it is also undeniable that the 20-year-old has the necessary attributes to provide enough support from the midfield to the likes of Taison and Marlos.
