Arsene Wenger says that Jack Wilshere has earned his right to become club captain, as he spoke recently in a TV channel.
Wilshere was on the verge of leaving Emirates last summer as he was recovering from injury and had no warranty of game time, but the midfielder stayed and fought for his place, and now has established himself as an Arsenal starter again with 31 appearances so far this season.
And speaking of his student, the boss Wenger believes that he can now keep the faith in Wilshere to hand him over the captaincy after the retirement of Per Mertesacker at the end of the season.
“I just thought the combination of history, the fact that he’s a long term player for the club, the fact that he has experience and knowledge now, I trust now to make him captain,” Wenger said speaking to Bein Sports.

Wenger also gave the reason why he plays him central and said that the player has matured and now can organize the play around him. With the right kind of personality coupling with the attributes, Wilshere can be the major force at the North London club in the coming years.
The England midfielder got a recall from the National team setup as well but will not be able to play both the friendlies due to some minor injury problem, as FA confirmed. But he is definitely in contention to make it for England in the World Cup squad.
Wilshere is yet to sign a new deal at Arsenal
The midfielder though hasn’t ye signed a new deal at the Emirates, and his current one expire in 2018. There are some big clubs that are interested in him and the latest of them have been Liverpool. Although Wenger has always maintained big adjectives for the 26 year old, it is to be seen how quick the contract is renewed for the England international.
Arsenal, after the International break will play CSKA Moskva in the Quarter Finals of the Europa League.
