Russia vs Brazil Preview, Team News and TV Guide

Russia are hosting the World Cup this year.


The World Cup hosts Russia will meet five time World Champions Brazil in a firendly on Friday as a preparation for the upcoming World Cup. The match will be played in Moscow’s(Moskva) Luzhniki Stadium and will be the first of the two friendlies of both the teams.

Team and Injury News:

Zenit forward Aleksandr Kokorin was forced to withdraw from the squad due to a knee injury, while others such as Georgiy Dzhikia and Viktor Vasin are also long-term absentees. Smolov will be back in the team though after his recent run of good form, also Alan Dzagoev is expected to start. Igor Akinfeev is to remain under the goal for the Russians.

The Latino maestros have injury concerns as well as defender Alex Sandro and Filipe Luis both had to withdraw after their injury. Neymar also recovering from a foot injury and won’t take any part for Brazil. Alisson is expected to captain the side while Chelsea’s Willian and Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino are expected to start in Moscow.

It will be a good test for both the teams as Russia haven’t played any competitive games and these friendlies are the only way of their preparation. For Brazil, they will get a hint of what is to expect in Russia in the Summer and coach Tite will know that a right set of players are required to achieve the goal. There are many options for the Brazilian side and they will be looking to establish their best combination as soon as possible.
