Arsenal Players on International Duties: Who plays Whom and Schedule

Ten Arsenal players are called up for National duties.


With the International Friendlies are here, the teams that are in the World Cup will be hoping to cover all their bases ahead of the trip to Russia in the Summer.


Many of the Arsenal players will take part in Russia in July, but even before that, some players will have to work hard to get themselves a berth in the flight to Russia. For them these friendlies are pivotal as these performances are always recorded in the notebook of the coaches and officials.

Ten of Arsenal’s first team players have been called up for National team duties in the upcoming International friendlies.

The players are – Laurent Koscielny, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mesut Ozil, Alex Iwobi, Mohammed Elneny, Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck, David Ospina, Granit Xhaka, Sead Kolasinac

Mesut Ozil:

The German has been called up for the two matches against Spain and Brazil on March 23 and 27 respectively. His boarding pass to Russia is almost certain unless something hazardous happens.

Laurent Koscielny:

The France defender is set to retire from International circuit after the World Cup, but he will have to guard the defense against Colombia and Russia in the upcoming matches.

Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck:

Jack Wilshere is back in the England squad after a long time and Danny Welbeck is also back after some good performances in Arsenal shirt. They have two matches against Holland and Italy respectively, and for Wilshere it is important that he utilizes his opportunities so that he can cement his plays in the squad for the World Cup.

Granit Xhaka:

Xhaka is another player who will be in Russia for his country Switzerland. He will play two friendlies against Panama and Greece.

David Ospina:

The Colombian goalkeeper is currently in duty of Arsenal’s cup games and have an Europa League Quarter Final clash ahead of him. Before that he will have to stop the ball from going in against a star studded France team and then against Australia.

Alex Iwobi:

The Nigerian helped his team to get a place in the World Cup as he scored the qualifying goal. Although he has had a dip in form in recent months as an Arsenal player, outings against Poland and Serbia may change the tides for him.

Mohammed Elneny and Sead Kolasinac:

Mohammed Elneny has got a call up for Egypt’s friendlies against Portugal and Greece, while Kolasinac was selected for Bosnia for their friendlies against Bulgaria and Senegal.

Arsenal new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan also has been called for national duties as he is selected for Armenia’s friendlies against Lithuania and Estonia.
