Transfer Update: Arsenal might part ways with promising defender targeted by Manchester United

Jose Mourinho is keen on bolstering the fullback slot and eyeing Bellerin as the long-term successor of Antonio Valencia.

Arsenal, under Arsene Wenger, have achieved epitome of success in past two decades but lost their essence in recent years and are now certain to finish outside ‘top four’ for the second consecutive time in Premier League.

The Gunners’ performance has degraded massively and the supporters are fuming about players’ commitment as well as manager’s cast of mind to deliver. Arsene Wenger’s days are numbered in North London and the gaffer is now prepared to break the bank more often in order to build a squad capable of winning in the long run.

Wenger, nevertheless, is discontent with a few of his stars who have failed to match the hype at Emirates. One such name is Hector Bellerin, the 23-year-old Spaniard, who flourished through the youth ranks and recently signed a long-term contract that will keep him at Arsenal until 2022. The former La Masia academy graduate was previously linked to a return to Barcelona whereas the likes of Juventus and Manchester City have inquired about his availability. The right-back cooled down the transfer talks by signing the deal but his on-field display, as well as the relationship with the fans, have deteriorated in recent months. He has slammed the popular YouTube channel Arsenal Fan TV labeling them ‘so wrong’ for ‘feeding off failure’ and is now uncertain whether he holds a long-term future in the Gunners shirt.

Manchester United, meanwhile, has emerged as the favorites to sign Bellerin but need to splash the cash for the youngster who is valued at £50 mil in this inflated market. Jose Mourinho, the Red Devils boss, will spend heavily again in summer but finding a right-back will be his priority. Antonio Valencia is 33 already and unlikely to appear regularly for long thus needs an alternative who will serve them for years to come. Bellerin holds a decent Premier League experience and capable of taking his game on to the next level under Mourinho who will channelize his talent as per requirements.
