Game week 31 of the Premier League saw only 4 matches being played over the weekend. The rest 6 were all postponed due to FA Cup responsibilities of one or both the clubs involved in those matches.

While Champions League place contender Liverpool FC trounced a hapless Watford FC 5-0 at home, the other 3 matches all had serious implications in the fight for survival. Crystal Palace got a much needed 3 points with a 2-0 victory against Huddersfield Town to climb out the relegation zone onto 16th. Huddersfield are a point above The Eagles.

AFC Bournemouth’s 2-1 victory over bottom placed West Bromwich Albion meant they break into the top 10 while the West Midland side are almost confirmed to go down at the end of the season. Everton recorded their first away win in a long time on a cold winter evening stoke marred by snowfall to solidify their 9th position. The Potters however are in grave danger of going down, after languishing at 19th with 7 games to play.

Here are our Goals of the week, from game week 31:

3) Mohamed Salah (Liverpool FC) vs Watford FC:

“The Egyptian King” of the Kop returned to top form against The Hornets and in what style. The 25-year old scored his first Premier League hat-trick with a quadruple and it all began in top style in the 4th minute. Georginio Wijnaldum found Sadio Mane at the centre circle who saw a completely free Mo Salah making a run on the right wing. The Senegalese sent a ball for him and Mo started his run into the box. The Egyptian superstar dribbled his way past Miguel Britos and Sebastian Prodl, before slotting the ball home in the near post passed a diving Adrian Mariappa and Orestis Karnezis with his seemingly weaker right foot. The goal has since drawn comparison to Lionel Messi’s goal against Bayern Munich in the 2015 UEFA Champions League semi finals.

2) Mohamed Salah (Liverpool FC) vs Watford FC:

It is not often that you find the same man appearing twice on our weekly list, but then not every week Mohamed Salah decides to toy with opposition defence like he did on game week 31. If his opening goal was awesome, his hat-trick one was nothing short of breathtaking.

After gathering the ball from Sadio Mane, Salah took the ball onto his right with all the 3 central defenders following his trail to stop him. He quickly stopped and turned onto the other side with the ball still in his feet. The defenders quickly recovered to turn back and put in a last ditch challenge. Watford midfielders Will Hughes and Kiko Femenia also swarmed around the “Magician” to stop him from getting his hat-trick. But, not to be denied on the day. Salah took an extra touch to take the ball slightly away from the defenders before guiding the ball passed a spectator Karnezis.

1) Roberto Firmino (Liverpool FC) vs Watford FC:

If 2 goals from the same match appearing on our list was incredible, hold your beer, it just increased by one more. Yes, 3 goals on the list from the same match!

Roberto Firmino is not a proper number 9, but has scored exactly the same number of Premier League goals (14) as two of the best number 9’s in the league in Jamie Vardy and Romelu Lukaku. Probably that proves how good the former Hoffenheim man has been for Jurgen Klopp’s side. The Brazilian scored another of his impeccable no-look goals on Saturday, amidst the Salah quadruple and it is our Goal of the Week.

Four minutes into the second half, Salah sent a cross into the D-Box from the by line on the edge of the penalty box. A superbly intelligent Firmino started his run from behind his marker Michel Britos, beat him and then reached in front of Mariappa before the ball arrived. The Brazilian then did the unthinkable by jumping onto the ball with his back turned towards the goal and guided the ball home with a cheeky back-heel. The finish that made Sky Sports Commentator Peter Drury exclaim “How dare you score like that in the Premier League!” rightfully made Karnezis look helpless.
