Following Arsenal’s devastating 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the final of the Carabao Cup on this past Sunday, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has received some heavy criticism for his team’s below-par performance from numerous football pundits around the globe, including former Arsenal player Ian Wright.

While recently speaking with The Debate on Sky Sports, Ian Wright did not hold back his thoughts regarding the Arsenal players and boss Arsene Wenger as he claimed that there is no reason whatsoever for the French boss to continue at the Emirates Stadium throughout the last season in his Arsenal contract.

Wright stated that Arsenal’s performance on Sunday was a really poor effort, considering it was the final of a major league cup and he also believes that the Arsenal players have let down Wenger on many occasions, and Sunday was no different.

“It’s really quite poor how it ended up on Sunday, in a final, I don’t know what the boys can do now to repay the faith that the manager has shown in them. I think they’ve let him down on many occasions, and they did again on Sunday.”- Wright stated.

Additionally, Wright also said that he believes that there is no reason for Wenger to continue with The Gunners as he enters the final year of his Arsenal contract and Wright himself is currently struggling to find a proper reason on why he believes Wenger should continue.

Furthermore, Wright also noted that Arsenal should at least try and put up a performance to win this year’s UEFA Europa League, however, the former MK Dons manager thinks that remains as an impossibility.

“They should at least try to put in a performance to win the Europa League. Do I think it will happen? No.”- Wright added.

Lastly, Ian Wright claimed that Arsenal currently need a new manager, someone who is capable enough of coming in and shaking things up a bit and eventually change the landscape at the Emirates.
