Arsene Wenger spoke to the media and revealed the reason why two of his players were subbed off in their match against Everton on Saturday.
Arsenal faced Everton in the Premier League and they had to make two forced changes in two different occasions. Nacho Monreal was brilliant in the first half both defensively and in attack, but the Spanish full back was substituted after the half due to unknown reasons. Petr Cech, the Arsenal custodian also had an injury after a collision with Oumar Niasse and was taken off.
Arsene Wenger was questioned about those players and the French manager revealed the reasons why he had to take both the players off.
He said that Nacho Monreal was feeling sick and that’s why he didn’t feature after the first half. The Spanish international has been terrific for the Gunners in this season as he has defended well, but beside that has scored 4 league goals so far this season. Arsenal missed the 31 year old as Sead Kolasinac was at fault in Everton’s solitary goal in the match. And in case of Petr Cech, the Arsenal manager revealed that it was a calf problem that resulted his substitution.
Monreal has been excellent for Arsene Wenger’s team
Wenger said of Cech, “He has a kick on his calf. I don’t know medically how bad it is. Just a kick.”
David Ospina came on for him and did okay but the Colombian may feature again this Saturday in Arsenal’s massive clash against Tottenham if Cech is still unavailable.
Arsenal outclassed Everton in the last match and now they will have to be consistent to push for a top four finish. The North London club has signed Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan who have started so promisingly for them. In terms of the injured players, Arsenal still have both Danny Welbeck and Santi Cazorla sidelined while the latter’s date of comeback is still unknown.
