After an unfortunate defeat against Tottenham, the second boys of the Premier League desperately needed three points this weekend. And Jose Mourinho had enough reasons to smile after the Manchester United vs Huddersfield fixture.

The game started in a heated manner and both sides committed some terrible fouls in the first quarter. United were the better side and created very good chances, but they failed to break the deadlock, thanks to some resilient and strict defending from Huddersfield men. Lingard and Sanchez also saw two terrific shots being saved by Lossl. Also, there was a clear penalty shout when Kongolo fouled McTominay inside the box, but the match official decided otherwise.
Throughout the first half, the story remained the same. The hosts controlled the ball for majority of the time, finishing the first 45 minutes with 77% possession; yet they failed to hit the nets. The likes of Sanchez, Mata, Lukaku and Lingard attacked time and again, but much to their dismay, the halftime scoreline of Manchester United vs Huddersfield remained 0-0 at the break.
Manchester United started the second half in a spirited fashion and there were some good passing going around. The result was imminent. Ten minutes into the half, Mata collected a ball on the left hand side and his first touch was a delicious cross to the box. It was inch perfect and Lukaku made no mistake to guide it home with a first-time left-footed strike.
Then, after the hour mark, the home side doubled their lead. This time, it was a beautiful pass from substitute Pogba that eventually found Sanchez in the box. The Chilean was fouled and referee had no hesitation to award the spot-kick. The most expensive signing of United stepped up himself to take the penalty. Although Lossl made a brilliant save from the penalty, Sanchez send it to the back of the nets from the rebound.
For the rest of the match, United players passed the ball around and maintained their comfortable lead to finish the match on a winning note.
