Arsenal have got a massive boost in their chase to land Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, the former Saint Etienne forward who plays for Borussia Dortmund now.
The Gunners have been heavily linked to sign the 28 year old star, who is also keen to join the North London club. Gunners have already seen one bid rejected but they have tabled another one for Aubameyang.
The Gabonese has already been left out of their squad for couple of weeks due to disciplinary reasons, and Dortmund manager told on Wednesday that he won’t let him play if he breaks the harmony of the team.
It has been also reported that the Gabonese has already agreed his personal terms and it is only the negotiations now between the two clubs, and if they come to agreement, it will be a done deal soon. Arsenal’s chief executive Ivan Gazidis and their new head of recruitment Sven Mislintat are already in Dortmund and in talks with the Bundesliga club.
But the boost is that Arsene Wenger himself has confirmed that they are in talks for Aubameyang and that has raised the bar of expectations among Arsenal supporters. The Gunners boss also said that he can’t say if he feels confident about the deal, but many sources already claim that the clubs are now close to come on terms.
The Bundesliga giants are keen to include Gunners striker Olivier Giroud in a player-plus-cash deal this month. However Evening Standard reported that Arsenal prefer a straight cash deal for Aubameyang.
Wenger doesn’t want to lose Giroud this month, despite the France international struggling to get regular game time at the Emirates this time out.
Also The Standard reported that Arsenal have already made a second bid around £50 million, but Dortmund are asking for £55 million to let the former Saint Etienne player go. But it is expected that they will find a solution soon as it is quite clear that the 28 year old wants to come to North London.
