VIDEO: Swansea City vs Liverpool Highlights, Match Stats and Review

One of the worst performances by Liverpool under Klopp who failed to break Swansea's defensive resilience and lost 1-0.

Liverpool were back in Premier League this weekend following an enthralling 4-3 win over league leaders Manchester United and their Monday night encounter was against bottom-placed Swansea City at Liberty Stadium who are trying to prove a point and stay up in the league under new boss Carlos Carvalhal.

Liverpool, currently fourth in the tally, were the favorites to clinch a win on the road. But their inconsistency against below-par sides proved to be true once more as they were handed a surprise 1-0 defeat at Liberty.

Liverpool humbled the Swans 5-0 last month in the reverse fixture at Anfield but struggled since the very beginning tonight as the Swans kept on defending deep and the Reds lacked creativity up front. They missed a few chances but it was the hosts who broke the deadlock late in the first-half when a defensive lapse cost the Reds again and Alfie Mawson’s strike ended up into the back of the net.

The visitors started the second-half with more intent but were repeatedly being denied by Fabianski. The Swansea custodian spectacularly denied Mo Salah’s free-kick and the Reds kept on trying their luck from distance that went in vain. Klopp brought in Lallana and Ings but they didn’t manage to break Swansea’s defensive resilience. Firmino made a howler by hitting the woodwork from close range in closing seconds which decided the fate of the game.

Liverpool, who defeated leaders Manchester City last week, surrendered to bottom-placed Swansea City and ended their unbeaten streak.
