Premier League matchday 24 : Exciting games make the league table interesting

A couple of matches are left for the Premier League gameweek 24.

The Premier League returns to the scene as we hope for another weekend of sensational actions in the (arguably) World’s Best League in Europe.

With Chelsea drawn away at Premier League newbies Brighton, there was need for some of the top sides to make amends as Manchester City sought for redemption against new promoted side Newcastle United.

United beat Stoke City 3-0 last week and Burnley 0-1 a day ago, as they hope to continue the form in the course of the season.

However, with eye-catching fixtures being played across the English territory yesterday, we take a look at the key matches to watch as it promises to be a feast of football in the Premier League.

Newcastle United visited the Etihad Stadium as League favourites Manchester City aimed to continue their journey up on the table. In the end, the City side feasted on Newcastle at home to make up for the three points lost against Liverpool, coupled with the breaking of their unbeaten run to the season.

This made the match full of expectation as some sides were hoping that the Cityzens will somehow drop points even when it looks unlikely against Newcastle.

Guardiola’s side as expected dealt a blow to the Magpies, although there was a chance for an upset in the match when Newcastle backed by former Liverpool manager and current manager Rafael Benitez pulled a goal back in the tie to make it 2-1. However, City sealed the win as good work from Leroy Sane which set-up Aguero for the third goal sealed the match with a 3-1 win.

The Saints faced a tricky home test from Mauricio Pochettino’s side at St. Mary’s Stadium as hostilities returns this weekend in the Premier League.

The saints are a tough nut to crack especially at home as they held Arsenal 1-1 in December and narrowly lost 1-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge courtesy of Marcos Alonso’s long range free-kick.

The match between the Saints and the Spurs side will take a keen interest with one man Harry Kane setting a landmark in his Premier League carrier.

The English sensational forward has been in scintillating form following his debut at the club and he was on the score sheet with a brace against visiting Everton side which was won 4-0 by Spurs.

The forward got 98 Goals to his name, but can he find the back of the net twice as saints welcome spurs at home? That will be the key question to this match as both side clashes in the weekend contest.

The Welsh side locks horns with Liverpool as both sides square up at this Premier League weekend. The Anfield side may look more potent to win this game but with the Swansea side at home you cannot really predict the outcome of this fixture.

Both sides have great memories meeting each other in the Premier League and this match is not going to be different as they meet on Monday Night Football.

Liverpool would be coming back from a home win at Anfield against impeccable Manchester City side and so will be brimming with lot of confidence ahead of this weekend fixture with Swansea.

The home side drew with Newcastle United at St. James Park with Jordan Ayew earning the Welsh side a share of the spoils as they will be looking to pick up the maximum point from the relegation zone as they battle Liverpool at home.
