Axel Tuanzebe has all the ingredients to establish himself as a Manchester United defender, says his colleague Luke Shaw.
The England international defender spoke to Manchester United’s official media channel and said that he is impressed with the 20 year old and believes that he can be a great find in their defense in the coming years.
Tuanzebe is a United academy product and was handed a first team debut a year ago by Mourinho, even this season he has been training with the first team, but his chances has been limited. But even so, Shaw has seen his enormous potential and believes that he can really nail down as a centre back and depicted his talent as frightening.
“I think the talent he’s got is frightening. He’s strong, he’s quick, he’s energetic, he reads the game well, he’s a good passer of the ball, he’s got everything.”
“For me, his main position is probably central defender. I think if he nails down one place, it will be central defender. But like I said, he’s got everything and he’s still very young,” he added.
The 22 year old former Southampton player also clarified that he has been particularly impressed and proud of Tuanzebe in a Carabao Cup match against Swansea where he started and did exceedingly well. He also believes that it was the match where the United faithfuls could really understand the enormous potential Tuanzebe has, who has already played for United at right back and midfield as well.
Jose Mourinho said earlier that they are planning to loan Tuanzebe out in the January window as he wants the England youth international to gain more game time, with reportedly Championship side Aston Villa are interested in him.
The tall lanky defender is also not stalling on his current development and he is getting better everyday said Shaw.
Tuanzebe has impressed Luke Shaw
“We’ve not seen him that much but, hopefully, we and the fans get to see him more because I see him in training and he’s improving every day, building his confidence up even more. He’s always ready for his chance when called upon,” he added.
