Setting the Scene:

Arsenal were without a win in last five and Arsene Wenger left Alexis Sanchez out of the squad, which almost ensures that the Chilean is on his way out this January. Wilshere came back to the fold while Ramsey started from the bench.

The Cherries are 16th on the table and manager Eddie Howe fielded a good side to compete against a rattled Arsenal side. Jordon Ibe started while former Arsenal youth Benik Afobe was on the bench.

Arsenal had early chances but failed to capitalize as both Welbeck and Iwobi failed to score. Lacazette also threaded through Welbeck but the England striker couldn’t score past Asmir Begovic. It was a good display by the Bournemouth duo Ibe and Fraser, who played well and penetrated the Gunners defense and had the desire always to create something. It was all squares as the break approached.

Wenger was absent on the touchline as he served the final of his three match ban, but Gunners took the lead seven minutes from restart when Bellerin was sent through by Iwobi and the Spaniard finished it off Begovic. Arsenal still had moments to increase the lead but couldn’t take it and got punished when Calum Wilson equalized for the home side. After four minutes, Wilson turned provider for Ibe who gave the Premier League novishes a massive lead. It was Ibe’s first goal as a Bournemouth player since he joined a year and half ago.

The loss means the Gunners are five points of the top four and struggling yet again as a team. Alexis Sanchez is certain to leave and that means a huge blank that needs to be filled.
