Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has had a talk of contract extension for a long time now but it didn’t take an escalation up to the recent weeks. But in a New Year’s post on Instagram, the 26 year old has given a hint that he may well be on course to extend his contract at Arsenal.

So this time about a year ago, i was a bournemouth player sitting in the stands at the Vitality watching AFCB v AFC wondering if i would ever play for @arsenal in the @premierleague ever again. After another set back, i never stopped dreaming and believing. If 2017 has taught me anything it would be NEVER GIVE UP!!! Love playing for this club and long may it continue. Looking forward to 2018 ❤⚽️❤

The Instagram post has been potentially a hint that he is on his way to pen a new deal at the Emirates and it has caused delirium among the Gunners fans. The fans are very much happy with his contract extension, despite it is almost inevitable that Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will leave at the start of next season.

A contract extension is only a matter of time now

Wilshere previously stated about his desire to stay and indicated that he doesn’t want to leave the club, and confirming that the contract extension talks will be held soon as the January window is approaching.

A rejuvenated Wilshere has been instrumental for Arsenal in recent weeks

Arsene Wenger also confirmed that a talk is going on and it is very much a possibility that Wilshere will sign a new deal. He said, “We need to sit down with [Jack]. Beginning of January, it’s planned. There is no delay.”

The “long may it continue” part of Wilshere’s post has excited Arsenal fans the most as they see the extension only a matter of time now. And lately the England man has been great in his new midfield role and if he can steer away the injuries and continue to do the good work, a contract extension is really knocking on the door.
