Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will be making a trip to the North East a day after the Boxing day to face Newcastle United in the Premier League, as the busy period of English football begins.

Injury and Team News:

Home side Newcastle have no fresh injury problems but both Mikel Merino and Isaac Hayden are suffering from knocks but can feature on Wednesday. The Toons have had their first win since October in midweek and Rafa Benitez may well be looking to bring back Ayoze Perez in the line up.

Hayden can be back against Man City

The visitors are hopeful that John Stones will be fit to play as h has recovered from his hamstring problem. Phil Foden, City’s 17 year old star has an ankle injury and joins the injury bench with Benjamin Mendy. Pep Guardiola will be eyeing some rotation in his star studded squad and will be hoping more of the same at the North coast.

City are running away with the title already, as the Manchester side are 13 points ahead at top of the league and it is only Christmas. They are playing some scintillating football and are unbeaten this season, only can expect to cause more damage to opponents. Newcastle on the other hand had a run of four match loosing streak before their last week victory against West Ham. Rafa Benitez’s boys are currently 15th on the table and two points from relegation zone.
