VIDEO: Liverpool vs West Brom Highlights, Match Stats and Review

Another disappointing outcome at Anfield as Liverpool held back to a scoreless draw by West Brom.

Liverpool had to deal with an upsetting draw against Merseyside rivals Everton on a snowy Sunday afternoon but vowed to come back stronger tonight when they hosted struggling West Brom at Anfield. The game, however, proved to be another disappointment for the hosts who were restricted to a scoreless draw by the visitors.

Although Jurgen Klopp fielded his ‘Fab Four’ together, West Brom, surprisingly managed to maintain a superlative defensive composure throughout the first half. Liverpool, despite being the home side, could not create enough opportunities as West Brom custodian Ben Foster remained largely untested. Roberto Firmino missed a golden opportunity early in the game whereas star winger Mo Salah was stuck in the Baggies deep defence. Alan Pardew opted for counter-attacking moves with big man Salomon Rondon up front who used his physicality well to cause moments of nervousness in Liverpool backline. Hal Robson-Kanu’s strike hit the woodwork and a frustrating first-half ended scorelessly.

Liverpool looked more purposeful in the second half but lacked the correct pass in the final third. Loris Karius, on the other hand, was forced to make some crucial stops. However, the Reds seemed to be truly unfortunate yet again when substitute Dominic Solanke’s debut goal was ruled out due to handball. The referee changed his mind and cancelled the lead but the replay showed it was completely unintentional and Liverpool seemed to have suffered another massive point drop from a ‘should win’ home outing.
