UCL Last 16 Draw: Who faces Whom and other match details

The final will be on 26th May next year in Kyiv.

The UEFA Champions League last 16 draw took place on Monday at Nyon. The 16 teams that have advanced to the knock out stages have been drawn for their first counter in the road to Kyiv in May next year.

Qualified Teams:

Among the 16 teams, five clubs represent England and three represent Spain. Besiktas are the first Turkish side who advanced the knock out stages as group winners. The 16 clubs across Europe are-

Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspurs, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Sevilla FC, Besiktas, FC Basel, FC Porto, Paris Saint Germain, Bayern Munchen, Juventus, AS Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk

Match Dates:

The first leg of the matches are scheduled to be played on 13th/14th February and 20th/21st February, and the second leg will be played on 6th/7th March and 13th/14th March.

The draw was commenced by former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Juventus vs Tottenham Hotspurs (13th Feb and 7th March)

Basel vs Man City (13th Feb and 7th March)

Porto vs Liverpool (14th Feb and 6th March)

Real Madrid vs PSG (14th Feb and 6th March)

Bayern Munchen vs Besiktas (20th Feb and 14th March)

Chelsea vs Barcelona (20th Feb and 14th March)

Sevilla vs Manchester United (21st Feb and 13th March)

Shakhtar Donetsk vs AS Roma (21st Feb and 13th March)

*In the brackets, the dates for the 1st leg and 2nd leg are given respectively.
**Teams allocated second in the tie will play the 2nd leg at home.

Interesting Facts:

  • Defending Champions will be up against the high flying PSG, who toppled Bayern in their group.
  • Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United will be locking horns against Spanish club Sevilla, who are in good form this season.
  • Chelsea will renew their rivalry against Barcelona as they meet as well. There has been some fascinating ties between these two teams in the past and it all can go to the very edge this time as well.
